Re: Celestia 1.5.1, RC1
So, does it mean I can use cyrillic and hiragana in ssc files, and name, for example, soviet spaceships in cyrillic? It never worked before... By the way, how to use all those translated versions of Celestia, which are in "locale" folder? I can't find any option of changing the language i...

Re: Celestia 1.5.0 Bugs
Debugging show that problem in src/celestia/celestiacore.cpp:3338 const char* dateStr = d.toCStr(dateFormat); fills date string in local encoding (koi8-r in my system) but Celestia need this string in utf-8 always for output. After dateStr recive date string in local encoding, converting to utf-8 n...

Re: Celestia 1.5.0 Bugs
This does sound like an OS issue. My suspicion is that there's some trouble with the new support for entering Unicode characters in Celestia 1.5.0: since Win98/ME don't have proper Unicode support, there may be some compatibility issue. I confirm, support for pre-Windows 2000 MS OSes was abandoned ...

You're welcome Seb.
By the way, since as I understand you're French, watch next week's episode of NCIS on M6, it's episode 22 of season 4 "Dans l'obscurit?©".

Thanks for your enthusiasm Sebtrip. One correction though, Celestia is free software not freeware, that's an important distinction to make.

Re: Nokia to acquire Trolltech to accelerate software strategy.
Also note that if Nokia decided to stop development of the GPL version of Qt, the KDE Free Qt Fundation agreement would allow Qt to be released under a BSD style licence by the Foundation. Still, considering Nokia's current involvement with Gnome in Maemo on the one hand and with the Webkit (itself ...

Re: Ubuntu Repository
The version string shown in the splash screen (and the about box too), is set by the AC_INIT macro in the configure.in file. I'm using the following simple bash script which patches the CVS source and produces the .deb: #!/bin/bash # # Celestia deb builder # # A cvs checkout is expected in ~/celesti...

Thanks for that, but I can't do much with this. Please check the i18n page and report your suggestions to the Dutch translators.

On a related note, Aaron Seigo's keynote at the KDE4 release event includes some demonstrations of KDE applications running on OSX (53:30) and Windows (1:02:10). The funny thing is that their demo app is KStars :-) GetHotNewStuff as demonstrated on KStars to distribute star catalogs is really someth...

Re: Open Source
That's what I don't understand in your argument Paolo, you're complaining that Celestia is not enough in the opensource spirit and yet requesting a stronger, stricter management of the developers. That is very contradictory.

The point is that the Celestia development in the time rarely has followed the path described in the cited article. http://www.catb.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/ [...] Of course a lot of mail traffic would occure in a more large team. But e-mail is not the correct tool to be used for communic...

And you do run a Bulgarian version of Windows?
You can try forcing the language by running from a console:
But it's a bit stange that gettext does not pick up the correct locale.

I'm just teasing you, this has been in the KDE movie capture from day one. I'm not aware of any changes to the Windows' one.
