Project "Celestia Origin", release dated April 30, 2025

splash.png Dear members of the Celestia community! We’d like to introduce our Celestia Origin project whose goal is to upgrade Celestia 1.6.3 & 1.7.0 with the most current information about celestial bodies without modifying the source code. This project is the largest one of its kind in the Ru...

Re: Spacecraft for Celestia: Thread 2

I think the spontaneous rotations happen when they "react" in regards to changing orbital inclinations during close flyby approaches to any planet they come into. It turns out that I correctly understood the main reason. But how to deal with it? The most stable one is the Sun-Sun ...

Re: Spacecraft for Celestia: Thread 2

Can anyone tell me? Is there a way to use the "Two Vectors" construction for interplanetary spacecraft, but in such a way as to avoid spontaneous rotations around the axis? This happens all the time, whether it is an "Earth"-"Earth" combination or an "Earth"-&...

Re: Spacecraft for Celestia: Thread 2

This add-on presents a new and improved CMOD model for the observatory, by Art Blos's request. Cool! I didn't know it was so dark. Even darker than "Galileo". But before, on the contrary, it was snow-white. I will mention a few more spacecrafts with simple models that are worth ...

Re: Please cleanup old attachments

I have a big request: do not delete the content of all the threads dedicated to the releases of "Celestia Origin". The very first one, which we published on September 24, 2017, is unfortunately lost forever. I don't want this to happen to all the rest. :( I believe that all it have histori...

Re: Spacecraft for Celestia: Thread 2

Anyone planning on making nine "Rangers"? These spacecrafts are historically important. I will definitely add such a collection to "Celestia Origin". If not in April, then in October for sure.

Re: Spacecraft for Celestia: Thread 2

Is it possible to improve model for the "XMM-Newton" and "Kepler"? There are the same problems with visible polygons.

Please, don't write here about Saturn's new moons. I need to recover from the shock.

Re: A trip down memory lane

Also, from what I recall, CO first released in 2016 Yes, the "zero" pre-release was published on June 12, 2016, but the project's founding date is considered to be July 29, when I created a group on the VKontakte website (you can write it down in the English Wikipedia :toothless: ). how c...

Only 13 version is saved, as the last one compatible with Celestia 1.6.1(2). I don't see any point in keeping the other versions.

Re: A trip down memory lane

I'll take this opportunity to ask, maybe someone knows.

Why did disappear the user Janus, who provided server space for our project?
He hasn't logged in since August 2022 and the servers are no longer available. I suspect the worst.

If people are genuinely interested in our project and want to see even more interesting objects there, I am only g...
