yuo may want to wait ( like me ) for ALL the bugs to be worked out. as i understand it, when one thing is fixed, it affects something else. unless someone has all the corrections and they all work, im going to sit for ver.1.25

...while the rest of us sit back and wait for these updates to show up in the next release...
j/k guys, you're doing great! but as much as we all would like THE most realistic viewing possible, i prefer to wait until the bugs are worked out. my solar.sys looks like swiss cheese!

Re: Extras
dont know if this is what you're looking for, but i just added another folder called Optional Data and threw all the extras that were memory hogs ( like Tom G's Irridium satellite files) and leave them there. When i wish to explore the beauty of the Irridium constelation, i just copy the scc. file a...

LOL
THREE Tritons?! My world couldn't get any better!
That's okay, not rushing anyone: there a lot of things now that need attention, and im happy for now to have a reasonable fix.
My thanks to both, Selden and Grant - keep up the great work!

Re: keystroke problem
not trying to aggitate, zebuloni, but - instead of trying to get the programmers of celestia to create a whole new set of instructions, coding, and whatnot for another release at a future time, why not just go get a new qwerty keyboard? here in the US, they're like 10 - 12 dollars. is it a money iss...

well, i updated the star database to the newest version, and found several stars with this as the farthest distance: put this into your favorites.cel file "fathest" { isFolder false parentFolder "" base [ 7089.238800749067 -1580.958021665661 24015.40832756709 ] offset [ 1.275541319145646e-005 -4.664...

Re: Newbie: Voyager 2-Triton encounter?
umm,... Grant, maybe you could post your scc info for neptune as well. mine seems a bit skewed, because when i add your triton info in, im still 207,000 km from it at Voyager's closest approach. I probably either have old data, or screwed it up along the way somehow. But the parameters you included ...

Don Wrote: You needn't have done all that work. There are matching bumpmaps for both if you simply look for them. Well Don, sorry that some of us do workarounds and some of us do searches. Re: Guess which Bump Map is really wrong...
howdy! i noticed this problem a while ago, and fixed the map myself over many hours of trial-and -error. I can post the bumpmap, but i have no site, so if anyone can point me in the direction to get it up and out there, please let me know. i am using this bumpmap with the 16k mars - it takes forever...

Re: A question on how to begin. Can somebody guide me a little ?
You should see a folder labeled 'Models' in the Celestia directory. All add-ons that require modeling have you place a 3ds file in this folder. Your model may be any size, but remember; Celestia is running an entire UNIVERSE on your box - the larger the file, the greater chances there will be proble...

Re: The New Earth Textures From Space-Graphics
just a thought... would someone be able to use the space - graphics site Don first mentioned in the thread to create a higher rez bumpmap of Mars? they have some great bmp shadded sections of Mars that look great. I will try to slip them into an image with the rest of the lower rez bumpmap... wish m...

All you need to do as you are traveling is to hit H again, and then C for center. that will place the sun in your field of view as you recede.
Don't worry about learning the different functions of Celestia; we ALL had to at one point!!

I have two, one a 2k image(jpg) and another at 4k(dds) For some reason the 4k dds doesnt work; guess you can't have two dds files overlapping.... anyway, im sending the jpg to bruckner at his site, and if any and all who wish w...

yes to both counts on the video card. and yes, I think I speak for everyone when I say that a better, higher res image of Saturn would be well appreciated! FYI I worked out the problem with my Saturn image, and have been experimenting with bump mapping the gas giants..... reducing the saturation of ...
