Okay, now that I know how to get the textures bright, I continued with something I allready started: the V838 Mon(ster) nova.
Data is based on
http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/sim-id.pl?protocol=html&Ident=v838%20mon
I am still a newbie with Celestia, so if something is not correct in the data I placed in Celestia, please let me know?
The V838 Mon(ster) add on can be downloaded from
http://members.chello.nl/seti.haarlem/V838.zip
And ofcourse a screenshot

That looks reasoably good to me
Have you thought about trying to model it as a sphere?

I tried but I do not like the effect. If a sphere is used, the render should be from within to the outer borders.
Now only a shell is around the sphere and then this is the effect:

Nice work...although I didn't like the 'sparkle' filter effect on the nearby stars...Top of the Pops or what?
These nebula addons look great but they mostly lack a star cluster...have a look at Rassilons Rosetta Nebula and you'll see what I mean. This is the quality of work to aim for.
Many regards...bh.

I agree on the "sparkle filter", it's someting I am busy with now to remove.
About the star cluster, I do know what you mean (look at my first add on (not real) galaxy at
http://www.3dart4u.com/celestia/RT_52.zip
) ....... but as I understood, the region of the nova V838 is not filled with stars so that's why I didn't add any stars, let alone a star cluster. But maybe a few around might be more realistic I guess.
Thanx for the tip

Hi Jeam Tag!!
Maybe have to wait for a few days in adding the add on url. Still a bit busy with it, plus that the URL will be changed.
About the French: I do know Dutch and English and that is as far as my language knowledge goes

It also works for lots of other languages. French only goes to english & german though.

Sure, Jack, but i think about special astronomic terminology, special names, expressions, and so on: not really acurates with translator... and not really sure that I'm using all the good ones in french!)
But i'll try it, with the notices i have linked on my pages (the 'Notules VF')

Well okay, my V838 add on is finshed ... download on
http://members.chello.nl/seti.haarlem/V838.zip although that will not be the definitive URL.
Removed the "star streaks" as suggested. But the neighberhood stars were no succes: if I added more then one, they all became invisible?
Busy with my own Celestia site now plus also busy with to other real add ons:
the N49 nova and with the supermassive star Eta Carinae.
Of the last one, see the screenshot below .... trying to make a good model with that one too ....

FYI: a very impressive 3D model of this one has been made some time ago by Rassilon I believe. I tried to find the forum link but didn't find it yet...
