Brazilian Rocket Disaster

Post #1by TERRIER » 23.08.2003, 01:09

I don't know how many of you have been following Brasil's efforts to get into space, but they've had yet another major setback. :-(

Here's some news from USA today;

Further details will no doubt emerge over the next few days.

Well, here in Brazil we are very sad :(

We lost 21 people (civilian and military technicians) in this accident. The spokesman of brazilian government said we won't stop the space program.

They suspected a accidental ignition in one of the four boosters made the platform to break and a lot of solid rocket fuel exploded killing those guys.

The Air Force is investigating and in the next days they will release more information about this tragic accident.

It was the first accident with victims in Brazilian Space Program since it was started in the sixties.

Regards,

Gabriel
