Post #1by Hunter Parasite » 16.12.2005, 00:48

I don't think there's anything wrong with not having an avatar... ;)

I mean that the others without an avatar should get an avatar. Though if they don't want to they don't have to, but it's a very good idea. :idea:

Sorry, but I can't resist...

What the hell is "Lapinism?" A brief sojourn through the Google engine
reveals a wealth of un-translatable web sites, and a link to Lapinism, GA.

Thanks, Bob

Lapinism is a translation from the non-existant Dutch word 'lapinisme'. Lapinisme - in my rather personal circles - means love for and interest in rabbits as pets and as part of our culture. The cat-analogy would be something like 'felinism'.

The word 'lapinisme' does actually exist in French and it stand for over-procreation.

Many thanks... I did find the definition for 'lapinisme' but all versions of the
word seemed to be at odds with a standard, clear definition. Great fun.

Well we have had some fun with it :)

Several years ago I did an art exposition which was titled "Lapinism throughout the history of art" I manipulated about 10 very famous paintings from various artists and eras in such a way that rabbits appeared in them. All was done as seemlessly and with as much humour as possible.

With it - for the visitors to take - was a small but rather professional looking booklet explaining that the works on display were reconstructions (done via various modern technologies, like R?¶ntgen and IR-photography) of how the painting must have looked originally. Through the centuries the various churches had had the practise of removing rabbits from art, I - historian - had put them back in, giving the painting back it's original meaning.

Suffice to say it was a great succes and a lot of fun.

Yes indeed, since the only resembling word to Lapinism was the French one, 'le lapin' = the rabbit, I thought Lapinism should have some connection to that animal.

++++++++++++++++++++
However, since rabbits are well known --first of all-- for their intensive sex life, I kept my mouth shut and stopped speculating ;-), remembering our moderator's strict guidelines...
++++++++++++++++++++

Happy New Year to all,

Bye Fridger
